Re: Meat Farming
Everything That Increases Meat From Monsters
The link above is the KoL wiki page that lists all +meat bonuses. In general if you can survive in the Castle in the Clouds that's largely agreed to be the best meat place -- all monsters there drop tons of meat, all item drops there can be autosold for 100+ meat each, the noncombats there are either avoidable (turn the wheel to "Guard the Back Door" and then ignore the wheel when it comes up again for no adventure loss) or give you items that can be autosold for good meat, and also one of the item drops is a +meat item (gift certificate, 400-500 meat each or so).
I think if you have the Tome from the Bounty Hunter Hunter, your options are wider because you can go to zones where the average meat per monster is lower than the Castle, but if you Sniff one monster you can dramatically increase things. For example, I've heard the Poop Deck is a good place because the Wealthy Pirate drops a ridiculous amount of meat.
So check the items on the link provided and get yourself suited up to max meat drops. Then get a leprechaun type of familiar and get someone to cast Polka of Plenty. Until we get our clan buffbot up and running I'd recommend checking out Testudinata or Noblesse Oblige for how they operate. Typically the way it works is you send them some nominal amount of meat that is coded to the buff you want. 1 meat is Moxious Madrigal, 2 meat is Ode to Booze, or whatever. Then wait, and eventually the buffbot buffs you.
Also it helps to find the Demon Summoning Name for Preternatural Greed in the Spooky Forest.
Everything about Summoning
Being a serious farmer and truly maximizing your meat will take some effort though, and probably more than a few ascensions. For example, you'll want to perm the +meat skills (Nimble Fingers, Gnefarious Pickpocketing, Expert Panhandling) and I believe the best +meat pants are Stainless Steel Slacks, the HC DB reward.
But it's up to you how serious a farmer you want to be, and if you want to ascend as part of the process. As you can probably see from the link above, you can get some pretty decent +meat numbers just from a leprechaun, Polka, and a handful of purchased items like Knob Goblin Nasal Spray.

Re: Meat Farming
Remember, once you've put on all your +meat gear, fill the rest of the slots up with +items, and smash the resultant drops. (Except for Gift Certificates, which should be used.) If you don't have Pulverize, send them to wadbot, and sell the wads.

Re: Meat Farming
This part is especially important: do not spend too much meat to gain meat. This goes for food, booze, buffs, items, equipment... everything, really.
When you're farming, it helps to think like an obsessive accountant.
Food and drink: Figure out approximately how much meat you get per adventure. Then figure out what kind of food you'd like to have to increase adventures. For example, 5-fullness chow mein runs about 5,000 a pop in the mall, and gets you about 25 adventures. If you make 500 meat per adventure, for example, that means you're making a profit of 7,500 meat for eating chow mein. If you do it three times for the 15 fullness, that's 22,500 profit from eating high-quality food. Good move.
Sausage/tofu wontons get you about 18 adventures, at the current cost of about 6,000. At 500 meat per adventure, that's a 3,000-meat profit. 3 fullness each, so you get a 15,000 meat profit. Okay, but there's better options, as you can see above.
Equipment: Keeping things simple, just try not to spend too much. A natty blue ascot for +20% meat drops seems like a great way to go, but at 500,000 meat, it's really not smart. A better choice is the pulled porquoise pendant, +15% for 15,000 meat. It's a smaller yield, but not by much - and you're not spending much to get it. Even better: at your low levels, hit Ratsworth for his money clip - it gives +15% meat, and it's free!
Your best equipment for bare-bones meatmaxing, in my humble opinion, is:
Head: Miner's helmet. It's item drops, yeah, but it'll do. Next level up is the bounty-hunting helmet.
Weapon: Meatspout staff. +15%, and it's fairly cheap in the mall.
Pants: Tough break, not much here... go for bounty-hunting pants for item drops.
Shirt (if you're aware of your torso): Well, there's the Navy Fleece, which is okay... if you feel like farming ducks for a while, go for the duct tape shirt.
Accessories:
-Pulled porquoise pendant. Easy to get, and very effective.
-Ratsworth's money clip. Free, and also fairly easy to get.
-Any of several items that grant +10%.
This sets you up for cheap, yet effective farming.
If you want to go all-out on it, here's my own selection of meatmaxing equip:
Head: Plexi pith helmet. It took patience, frustration, and a lot of time, but hey, this is an awesome helmet to have regardless. I whole-heartedly recommend HCO TT.
Weapon: Muculent machete. Just +5, but coupled with...
Off-Hand: Cup of infinite pencils. It's new, and it's a shiny +15! You just need awesome Muscle to equip it.
Pants: Stainless steel slacks. HC Disco Bandit isn't too hard to do - plus you can perm Cocktailcrafting, for cheaper booze to drink for meatfarming. Double the benefit!
Accessories:
-Pulled porquoise, as above.
-Money clip, as above.
-Order of the Silver Wossname, for bonuses to meat AND item drops. There are guides to getting it on the KoL Wiki, plus farming the war can be pretty profitable in and of itself.
Yeah, there are more effective items out there to help you, but let's face it - they're expensive. And the goal here is to _make_ meat, not spend it. That part comes later.
Potions and Buffs: Again, think cheap. The "Advanced Farming" page on the Wiki is actually really good about these, so look it up. In summary, here's the important ones:
Empathy of the Newt
Fat Leon's Phat Loot Lyric
Polka of Plenty
All three of these can be acquired from buffbots, and pretty much for free. "For free" is a really good thing to hear. Next up is:
Wasabi Sinuses (from Knob Goblin nasal spray)
Heavy Petting (from Knob Goblin pet-buffing spray)
Each one only nets you about a +20 meat-per-adventure profit... but that adds up quickly. And after the initial cost, there's no spleen damage or anything.

Re: Meat Farming
Semi-Rares
For those who like a bit of added complexity, there's a truly excellent way to gain Meat on a fairly regular basis - hunting semi-rares. Semi-rare drops operate on a rough, but predictable schedule - you get one, and then 160-200 adventures later, you get another one. Essentially, this means that once every 160-200 adventures, you can make 50,000+ meat in one turn. Crazy, you say? Not at all.
For the meager sacrifice of one or two fullness per rollover, you can eat a fortune cookie, which will reveal lucky numbers; one of those lucky numbers is the number of adventures you have until you hit a semi-rare. You can find out exactly how long you have by either:
a. eating another fortune cookie, and seeing which number stayed the same, or
b. knowing approximately how many adventures you have left already, and deducing which number is correct from there. (For example, if you get a semi-rare adventure, spend 100 adventures somewhere else, then eat a fortune cookie, between "17 87 154" it's gotta be 87.
So since you can time your semi-rare adventures, what do you do with them? Well, check the wiki to see what sort of items you can find, and check mall prices on them. For example, knob goblin lunchboxes go for just about 70,000 meat each, and that's a pretty stable price what with lunchboxen being used all the time for speed ascensions. Barring that, cyclops eyedrops do around 50,000 each.
Nash Crosby's Still
Moxie classes take note: if you have access to the Still, don't bother drinking from it; have normal non-superhuman drinks, and make kiwis instead. Kiwis are the prime ingredient in Ferrigno's Elixir of Power (of prime importance in Hobopolis runs), and go for 4,000 or so each. Translation: 40,000 meat a day, for 700 meat cost from the Produce Stand. All without using an adventure!

Re: Meat Farming
Good advice, but PLEASE NOTE that you can't get the same semi-rare twice in a row. So you'll have to find two semi-rares to waffle between. If you try getting that second lunchboxen you'll blow your semi-rare chance and have to wait another 160-200 adventures (and STILL have to find a second different semi-rare).

Re: Meat Farming
here is my meat farming outfit:
Hat: miner's helmet
Weapon: meatspout staff
Pants: gauze shorts
Accessory 1: Aluminum Epsilon of Humility
Accessory 2: natty blue ascot
Accessory 3: porquoise necklace
Then depending where I am farming at, I use a fairy (in the black forest) or a leprechaun (in the castle).
As far as drops, they seem about equal. I prefer the forest, due to the baskets.
Any input is appreciated, especially in the pants department. (I wear a size 40)

Re: Meat Farming
Note that there is a loophole if you forget which end of the cycle you're on. If you accidentally adventure at the Knob, you can still get the semi-rare so long as you don't use up an adventure. Use divine champagne poppers, tattered scraps of paper, or (if you're really desperate) Harold's Bell to escape from combat. Obviously this doesn't work if there's no way to avoid spending an adventure (like a non-combat that doesn't give you a "walk away" option) so don't rely on it too heavily.Foxy Boxy wrote:Good advice, but PLEASE NOTE that you can't get the same semi-rare twice in a row. Stainless Steel Slacks are the best meat-farming pants if you don't mind doing a HC DB ascension. Hobopolis also offers some nice options: The cup of infinite pencils frees up your weapon slot for something like muculent machete. The crumpled felt fedora (250 nickels at the market) gives your leprechaun an extra 10 pounds. And let's not forget the hobo monkey (1000 nickels) that is not only 1.25 times as effective as the leprechaun, it also steals meat mid combat on top of that. Plus, if you can get Hodgman's garbage sticker any piece of Hodgman's outfit (or his lucky sock) becomes much more useful than any equivalent piece of your current getup.Splaterpunk wrote:here is my meat farming outfit:

For the item farming route, the bounty hunting gear is great. The Jumpsuited Hound Dog is 1.25 time as effective as a fairy (it also increases combat frequency, but the non-combat in the Black Forest doesn't work like regular non-combats according to the wiki). The down side is that these together require at least 145 days of lucre farming, and you'd really want to get the Manual before either of them (the manual is also useful for farming, you can sniff goth giants for more gift certificates or black widows for more pension checks/picnic baskets). Oxycore DB nets you a pair of plexiglass pants; very useful if you haven't yet completed your bounty hunting outfit.
You may want to also consider going for the Order of the Silver Wossname. +11% items AND +11% meat (not even considering the +11 to all attributes). This medal is ridiculous and not even funny.
